First, I have to say that Kristen looks stunning, as always.

Double Standard: a set of principles that allows greater freedom to one person or group than to another.
Last week some pictures of Robert Pattinson surfaced of him leaving a concert that he had attended. Pictures that showed him trying to enter his car. Now, first off, I am going to say this: The paps were not cool getting pictures like that, it was ridiculous. But, Rob brought those - I'm sorry - on himself by standing out in front of everyone at the concert. He knew what would happen when people saw him, he knew the Paparazzi would get his location, yet he stood there anyways. In a perfect world, the Paparazzi would not have been able to obtain those pictures, but it's not a perfect world and he's a big boy who knew what was going to happen.
Now this week, pictures of Kristen Stewart leaving her home are released. In these pictures she is - thankfully - unaware of the Paparazzi taking a picture of her, but I have to ask; is it alright for them to take a picture of her at her family's home?
Last week a campaign was begun, a full fledged freak out occurred over pictures of Rob leaving a concert. This week, pictures that are more intrusive because they are at her family home have surfaced... will an all out campaign to 'LEAVE KRISTEN ALONE' break loose? Simple answer: No. And why is this? Simple, because she's not everyone's beloved Rob. We here at Team Kristen blog were pretty put out when there was an all out campaign to leave Robert alone, but Kristen, who is also victim to intrusive pictures was conveniently left out.
Is it okay for Kristen to be the subject of intrusive photo's because she's not Rob?

I have to agree, it is a gross double standard! And if I knew how to change it I'd be doing it right now. Unfortunately a large portion of girls in the vast army that is Rob's fanbase just don't care that much about Kristen. Sad, but true.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely not OK. Thank God there is a new law coming, paps are getting completely out of hand. I'm both team Kristen and Rob and what's happening to both of them is unacceptable, though it's sad to see that people don't care as much when photos of Kristen leaving her home are taken. :( I guess it's generally a gender thing women care more about men, and as we know the fans are mostly female, sad thing. But Kristen gets less crazy fan attacks, I guess.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I think it's a double standard. I do think that the pics of Rob was intrusive and I feel the same way about the pics of Kristen. If a fansite would start a campaign to leave her alone, I'd be on board.
ReplyDeleteDo you think less people would care if it's Kristen then if it's Rob?
Maybe. I know I don't.
I think the campaign works for all celebreties. They need to be left alone when they're not working.

ReplyDeletei was totally mad when i saw those pics because its a private proprety and no one should be able to take pics there but i think people are less outraged because they werent in her face. im not saying they are right but i think if we had pics of a pappz who was against the house then people would be like "WOW thats terrible!" but of course ITS NOT right, but these papps have NO respect.
ReplyDeletei make no difference between rob and kris, i adore and respect them both so no double-standard from me but i get your point :)
Girls, u have 2 remember tha the ones that started the "he doesn't want this, neither do we" have blogs dedicated to Rob.I don't think there is a double std. i think that u as kstew fans should do the same 4 her And i'm sure everyone will support. Cause really those Photos are as bad Rob's.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree and thank God you have the guts to talk about it. All should benefit from the "Respect" campaign but I think it's up to the individual fansites to do their own "Respect" campaign if others are only focused on their own celebrity. What I didn't like or agree with is how fanatical they became and cussed everybody out banning blogs who posted the pics. It was totally ridiculous and how do they expcet any "respect" when they act like heathens!? I wrote a short paragraph about it on my robcandee blog and only posted the pics necessary to the subject at hand. I don't think Rob should hide his face, it only ads to the hoopla and we all want to see that face!
ReplyDeleteI also have to say that while it is an invasion of privacy to some level, I don't think these photos should be "banned"! How long can we go without any personal photos or info on our favorite celebs!? We would rarely see them if they were only photographed at award shows and interviews. Everybody likes to see their favorite celeb doing normal activities and in between gigs.
ReplyDeleteIt was a Rob fansite which started that campaign, so instead of complaining about double standards tell Kristen fansites to do the same, or are you expecting Rob fans to do it for you eh? Are Kristen fans only good at talking but not taking action?
ReplyDeleteAs for the pics, both sets of pics are intrusive and not right, however, at least those KStew pics were taken from the distance, paps were all up in Rob's face on his, they cornered and caged him, taking pics from underneath him, that's pretty bad if you ask me.
I agree with you 100% Kris was at her parents house (private) whereas Rob was at a concert (public). I've seen aerial views of Kristens parents house in mags that is not cool, at all. I don't think any of the paps have any right to get in your face like they did with Rob the night after Marcus concert either they should have to keep a distance atleast. I'm not sure what will change in Jan with regards to the laws but lets hope it will atleast help. At first I was excited to hear on twitter (cause of all evil) that pics were going to surface but now that I saw where they were taken I feel guilty even looking at them. Kris looks good in the above pic so that is something to be happy about. I hope she is enjoying her much deserved holidays.
ReplyDeleteThere is no question there are double standards, but I agree with those who say Kristen sites should start a campaign for her. Don't expect many Rob fans to care about Kristen the same way, and include her in any sort of campaign. That is why they call themselves Rob fans only. Whether they will support a campaign for Kristen or not, that is another question. To Monika, remember that Kristen has had pictures taken where she has been harrassed and cornered by paps too. The one from the hotel parking back in August I believe, when Kristen and Rob were staying at the CM, comes to mind. Even someone from the hotel had to help her get to the elevator. The papps yell obscenities at her too, and she is only 19. It's pretty disgusting.
ReplyDeleteITA. I don't necessarily think the paps were cool for doing that BUT Rob got over it, he was laughing in the car seconds later. I hate the way they leave Kristen out and Rob's psycho fans are making me embarassed to be a fan of Rob's. They made that video to "respect Rob" and left out all the most intrusive photos - in the hotel elevator, chasing cabs, etc. Why? because Kristen was with him. It infuriates me as to why they can't RESPECT Rob's choice of who he loves yet they expect the paps to respect him. They are supposed to be his fans?
ReplyDeletedefinitely NOT ok for Kristen's pics to be taken at her/her parents house...it makes me sick...however, while I agree there is double standard in the Twilight fandom when it comes to the main leads, this is not the case...the campaign against paparazzi intrusion in Rob's life was started and conducted by Rob-centric bloggers/web sites...they have nothing to do with Kris, and nobody is stopping you to start a campaign to support Kris/to counter the paps in what Kris is concerned. What totally bugs me in the fandom though is that while the books are about Bella and her life, you only hear about Edward and Jacob...unfortunately the same happens with the movies and most of the promo for them as well...guess the zillion of girls that go to see the movie go there to see different abs on screen not a thorn/broken/happy/klutzy girl falling in love...
ReplyDeleteanyway, just wanted to add my 2 cents to this, as a fan of Kristen's I get your pain, but start your own battle...I am well aware of "KStew project" from LJ for instance, that managed to put together over 1000 support messages in a book and some vintage tees as presents to Kristen from her fans. That project was started because some idiot called her a "bitch" in Vancouver while she was dodging paparazzi...
The doble standards about rob and kristen is not only for that subject. When kristen told that some fans are crazy and she is sometime scared, people tell she is a bitch and ungrateful (hey oh watch that video of her at brazil it's awful) and when rob said that his fans are crazy and yells SHUT UP during a fan event, everyone said "oh he is so cute"!! /O
ReplyDeleteWhy? because women are always harder with other women.
I think we (kristen fans) should start a campaign for first: magazines stop posting photos of kristen's house, I mean people can find were she lives in like 5 minutes.
It's the doble standard about rob and kristen which stop me to be a rob fan, I like him but the "only rob's fans" are awful. The kristen's fans who only love her don't said bad thing about him.
PLEASE START A RESPECT CAMPAIGN FOR KRISTEN. THIS SHOULD STOP(intrusive paps). i gave my support for rob the last time and i'm also expecting one for our Stew. i'm in!
